About Us
Presented by artist-scholar Micah Huang and The East Wind Foundation for Youth, The LA Hungry Ghost Festival honors the past and celebrates present day Los Angeles Chinatown, presenting traditional arts performances with a contemporary spin.
Performances include: dragon and lion dance, shadow puppet (YingXi) shows, zodiac and monkey king performances, Kung Fu demonstrations, fan dancers, and local musicians. Ancestral altar installations adorn the lawn, with offerings of food, incense, and flowers. Kids enjoy cultural crafts tables, face paint, scavenger hunt, and a bouncy house!
The LA Hungry Ghost Festival is presented by artist-scholar Micah Huang and president of The East Wind Foundation for Youth, Wayland Tam, with help from Pauletta Pierce, Hao Huang, and Emma Gies. Our generous sponsors include The California Arts Council, a state agency, as well as The California Creative Corps, Community Partners, The Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, The Center for Cultural Power, and The Slants Foundation.
